Here at James & Lianne Wedding Photography, we believe in keeping film photography alive. The quality of medium format, as yet, is unsurpassed by even professional level DSLRs. But we won't get into a digital vs film debate here! Last year we took a trip down to Cornwall to celebrate our anniversary and we did the same again this year to celebrate 12 years together down in the seaside town of Perranporth. We came equipped with many cameras, one of which was our 1959 Rolleiflex 3.5F. A gorgeous camera that creates absolutely stunning images with immense detail. This is the same camera we use to shoot film at weddings, just because it looks so beautiful and dreamy! We took it everywhere on our week away in our secluded log cabin, from Perranporth to Padstow, to Rick Stein's restaurant to Lands End... and everywhere in between!

Enjoy the photos, we'll be posting the Polaroids in another blog soon!

And we also shot a roll of film on James' Grandad's recently discovered 1940's Coronet Rapide. It's a great feeling to look through the eyepiece and use the same camera grandad used all the time through the 50's-70's. We still have the photos taken with this camera and it's great knowing we're adding to that collection with the same camera. The camera itself makes huge panoramic negatives - bigger than any camera we currently have in our arsenal - many, many times bigger than a modern DSLR sensor size. And we're left with these huge photos covered with haze from the old lens and detritus from years upon years of us, endearing in itself.
