It seems we totally forgot about our trip to Paris last year! We made a stop off on the way to photograph a wedding at Chateau Rigaud in Bordeaux and spent a week taking a 35mm film camera around with us, taking in the sights.
We did the typical things, Pompidou (brilliant!), Catacombs (fun!), The Louvre (busy!) and of course The Eiffel Tower (windy!). But being the cheap Yorkshire people that we are, we saved a few quid and walked up it. Lungs burning, legs wobbling, speech non-existent we got to the top and felt exhilarated. And it was made all the more fun on the walk back down, oxygen and gravity on our side giving a smug wink back at those enduring the same walk up we'd just done.
Our 35mm camera was sadly a piece of junk from the 90s (why did we ever take this camera!?) and was on its very last legs unbeknownst to us ruining half of our shots. When we got our scans back, it instantly went in the bin! But what it did get were a handful of gorgeous photos shot on 35mm film of us sweating in the heat but having an amazing time.
We spoke French. We dined on snails, following in the footsteps of Anthony Bourdain's recommendations. We ate croissants every morning on our rooftop. We ran from pickpockets. We got our portraits done. We'd do it all again! And if you ever want a photo shoot in Paris, please bring us with you!
