When we first Skyped with Linda, she said she'd love just one good photo of Ian. She described him as having a face like a bulldog sucking a wasp so naturally... challenge accepted! We were determined to get him relaxed in front of the camera and get just one nice natural photo of him. We got that and more! Linda and Ian's Pickering Railway Station wedding was one we had been looking forward to all year. It sounded utterly unique, oodles of fun and nice and relaxed. Having only recently got their licence to hold ceremonies, the railway station is a fantastic new venue to get married in unlike any other. It's full of period features, quaint nostalgic nods and for anyone having a travel themed wedding - as many do - you couldn't be anywhere better. As Linda and Ian tied the knot, their steam train rolled into the station. A few proseccos and a handful of family photos on the platform, their small gathering of friends and family boarded the train to begin their steam train adventure! Amazingly, the whole service is largely run by volunteers and they do so with an infectious enthusiasm. As our train chugged out of Pickering station on it's way to Whitby, we were treated to savoury afternoon tea on the way out and sweets on the way back. Fueled just as much by booze as we were coal, it was such a nice trip through the North York Moors out to the coast. It was great to see everyone working on the NYMR line, shunting engines and maintaining the line it was like it was from a bygone era. And without fail, everyone we rolled past gave us a wave! We made a little bit of time for a few photos with Linda and Ian in the first class carriages and on the platform when we arrived back in Pickering before heading to the reception at The Old Lodge in Malton. The heavens may have opened but it wasn't dampening anyone spirits as musicians provided the entertainment as the drink continued to flow. In the brief window of sun, we made a quick dash for some final photos of Linda and Ian, and there wasn't a wasp to be chewed as we had a laugh and got them nice and relaxed in front of the camera. And that one good photo of Ian she asked for... we'll let you be the judges. As the afternoon turned into evening, we love that Linda and Ian made time to sit with the band to just watch and listen to them, just enjoying themselves and making requests along the way. We can't think of a more chilled-out way to enjoy your wedding! Speeches and cake cutting ended what formalities there were of the day as the evening settled down into drinks and conversation. What an amazing way to spend your wedding day. We couldn't recommend it more and thank Linda and Ian for having us be a part of it.
