Welcome to Victoria & Charlies marquee wedding in Otley. First off, this is the wettest wedding we have ever done! We got drenched. At one point we resorted to putting sandwich bags over our cameras and ended up drying ourselves off with a high-vis jacket from the back of the car! But it was all so worth it and we laughed through every minute of it! So did Victoria and Charlie who embraced the shockingly bad weather and smiled all day long. The two got ready in Menston, just minutes away from their ceremony at St John's Church, Victoria at her parents home and Charlie at the pub. Where else!? The amazing Rachel Miller, an old friend of Victoria's was on hand to get team bride's hair looking amazing. The heavens opened just as the ceremony was about to start so it was quick dashes up the path so as to not ruin all the morning's efforts. Naturally, none of this bothered Victoria who arrived beaming under a canopy of umbrellas. After the I-do's it was back outside for the 90 seconds of dry before it really started raining! Their reception was held at a small caravan park at Pool Bank near Otley, with stunning views across the valley. It was a picturesque spot and perfect for watching the weather come and go over the hills. Guests sprinted, umbrellas aloft into a stunning marquee setup wonderfully adorned by our friends at Leafy Couture. The tropical themed centrepiece of the room with ferns and monstera leaves was our favourite piece we've ever seen from the fabulous team (seriously, check it out below)! As the weather stopped and started, we timed it right to make the most of the outside and in between downpours we made some joyful portraits and even managed to stay dry! We even had a second dry spell in the evening to make use of the industrial farm area to do something a little different too. And that's always the takeaway from wet weddings. If you're looking at the forecast the week before your wedding worrying what to do if it rains on your wedding day, remember that it never rains all day. In nearly 10 years of doing this, we've always had breaks in the weather to make amazing photos. So don't worry, it'll all work out! One last moment of inspiration came when we realised we never did a confetti shot because it was too wet. So, we brought it onto the dancefloor for the first dance. An equally good way to make use of it and celebrate the happy couple.
