Lucy & Andrew | York Couple’s Photoshoot.
Not everybody loves being the centre of attention. But just about everybody loves a photoshoot in York. But how do you get those things to go together in one of the busiest tourist cities in the country? Lucy and Andrew challenged me to make it happen, for their York couple’s photoshoot, so we hatched a plan for a super early photoshoot around some of York’s most recognisable and stunning locations.
Sunrise Portrait Sessions in York
Trust me, this is 100% worth setting a 5am alarm for! Sunrise isn’t necessarily what people think of as an opportune time for a photoshoot. It takes a special amount of dedication to be up and looking photoshoot ready by 7am! But the payoff is unreal. A photoshoot on The Shambles at dawn without a single person in sight is absolutely worth it. These streets are usually thronging with tourists by mid morning, and no sunset photoshoot could ever compete with the quiet streets of an early morning photoshoot in York. Having York’s historic centre all to ourselves was incredibly special and we made the whole city our playground. Lucy and Andrew walked down The Shambles, along the walls, and around The Minster without a single person in sight.
Photoshoot in York for Awkward Couples
We’re not all born models and extroverts. Like most of my couples, Lucy and Andrew are self-confessed introverts and an early morning photoshoot in York was the perfect solution to not wanting to be the centre of attention. An early start not only unlocked the best locations without the tourists but allowed them to feel themselves, without feeling nervous about prying eyes or public displays of affection. If you’re more the awkward type, an early morning photoshoot might be just for you.
How to Plan an Empty-Street Photoshoot in York
Timing is everything. Getting up and ready might not be everyone’s idea of a good time but the payoff is worth it. If you’re lucky, you’ll be blessed with a golden sunrise. At worst, you’ll get to enjoy the cool crisp air and the quiet of the empty streets. To get portrait photos in York without tourists, you don’t need to spend ages editing them all out of the background, you just need to beat them to it. You’ll feel infinitely more relaxed. And that’s why a 7am empty-street photoshoot in York will always beet a sunset photoshoot full of tourists.
