What an amazing difference a couple of months makes. Andy & Gemma have collaborated with us all throughout the process of their planning, ideas and photography and for the engagement shoot we decided on the fantastic landscape of an abandoned quarry. It was a bright crisp winter's day with a thick layer of snow making for a gorgeous set of portraits of the two of them. Come to their wedding day at Holdsworth House just a few months later and the weather was glorious sunshine and lovely and warm.
Andy is a graphic designer and took a massive hands-on approach to styling the wedding, from stationery to decor to colours - although he inadvertently chose the colours of the Man United third kit; a faux pas for any discerning Liverpool fan! But with some very personal touches, including Gemma's peronalised custom Converse, Andy's grandfather's watch and Typical Type providing a gorgeous backdrop all day long with their big love sign, the stage was set for a truly memorable day.
Holdsworth House is in the heart of Halifax, West Yorkshire and offers a country manor / stately home vibe with all the covenience of a great location; everyone came from far and wide for Andy & Gemma's big day. After a tear-jerking first look from the father of the bride (seriously, get a tissue before you get down to that photo!), the ceremony took place in their large Jacobean era room before croquet and mojitos on the lawn. Andy & Gemma brought butterfly confetti too, our new favourite thing!
We saved portraits for the low evening sun and even got the horses involved before hitting the dancefloor for some BIG LOVE!
