So a little announcement... last month, we got married! We had a little elopement wedding to Cornwall, got married on the top of a hill with views of the sea. It was beyond perfect. Just us and two of our closest friends. In fact, as excited as we were about our own wedding after 15 years of being together, we treated our elopement as more of a holiday where we were just going to get married in the middle of the week, rather than the wedding being the star attraction. We had an amazing week of stomping the coastal path, eating, drinking and playing in the sea. An elopement wedding isn't for everyone but we have to say, if you think it's something you would rather do over the whole big wedding, you should just do it. You've no idea how supportive your family can be in your decision until you just go ahead with it full-steam. Pick an idyllic spot, anywhere in the world, you don't need to worry about who comes, who doesn't come, transport, who's gluten free.... the day can be just about celebrating your love with the person you love. As always, we took our film cameras as we shoot all our personal photos on film for it's wonderous looks and its connection with the moment. We managed to take just four (!) cameras with us, one of which being a lovely little rare 1990s Japanese camera James bought Lianne as a wedding gift. We took photos of our travels, ourselves and of our friends and we're sharing a few of those here. We're both big foodies, love to cook and grow as much of our own food as possible on our allotment. San Sebastian has 27 Michelin Stars and has a population of only 180,000 people. Of the seven restaurants in the world to have three Michelin Stars (the highest number possible), three of those restaurants are in this little town. However, the real culinary delights are found in the countless (and I mean countless!) tiny bars serving pintxos, tiny portions of the most delicious food imaginable. You can spend every night trying something new and mind blowing but you'll inevitably find a dish you really enjoy and keep coming back for it night after night! We also took in a cookery course at the Mimo School of San Sebastian Food, stomped some hills to meet San Sebastian himself and then traveled to nearby Bilbao to indulge in our other favourite passion, art. Bilbao has it's own brand of pintxos which is debatably better than San Sebastian's... or perhaps not! What Bilbao is known for is the Guggenheim. James curated an exhibition by Louise Bourgeois in 2015 so it was great to go stand under one of her enormous spiders that is on public display outside the museum. We spent a few more days eating, drinking, swimming, relaxing and making the most of the fantastically arty city. We even had pina coladas when we got caught in the rain! We'd whole-heartedly recommend both San Sebastian and doing your wedding your way... Both, turned out perfectly for us!
