Ever since we eloped and had a tiny wedding ourselves, we've had a new found respect for similar tiny weddings. We love a relaxed wedding day, and Sarah & Jonny's day was the epitome of laid back. As there were only a handful of guests, James went solo on this one at Cross House Lodge, a part of The Star Inn, Harome. When he arrived, family were gathered on the sunny patio, doing the crossword and enjoying a beer in the sun. A guitarist was casually providing some background vibes to set the mood. The ceremony took place soon enough in the lovely circular dining room at Cross House Lodge, the perfect space for an intimate wedding. Giggles and tears came in equal amounts before Sarah & Jonny were officially wed.
Champagne and canopes came, and instead of opting for traditional group photos, Sarah & Jonny decided to do away with tradition and trusted James to capture everyone just having a good time. With small, intimate weddings it really allows us to become more a part of the day, and more of a guest than anything which really helps us capture family and friends enjoying themselves from the 'inner circle' as it were.
Sarah & Jonny didn't want posed photos, and lucky for them we don't do that! We went for a short stroll down the road into the village, capturing a bit of the afternoon sun before heading back. 2 minutes tops and we got everything we wanted and needed - just casual, happy moments. The guitarist was still playing throughout the afternoon and before long the whole family had surrounded him and were singing at the top of their voices for his final song. Truly, everyone was having a great time.
And whilst waiting for the Michelin starred meal to be ready, there was an impromptu 'pub?' moment. Everyone agreed.... pub! A quick hop and skip across the road for a swift half of Timmy Taylor's before the dinner bell rang. James left them to it at that point to eat and drink into the evening. What a wedding! Just the right combination of love, family and food. Perfect!
