Kayleigh & Vincent got in touch with us and said they'd love us to photograph their wedding at a brand new barn venue on the Devonshire Estate. We'd not heard of anything about it at the time but a buzz among all our photographer friends quickly gathered pace over the following weeks and months about Bolton Abbey Tithe Barn, a rustic meets luxury wedding barn. As it would happen, Kayleigh and Vincent were getting married there on the first weekend of it's opening, so it was extra exciting to be a part of this new venue.
We met up with them both in nearby Addingham, just a stone's throw from Bolton Abbey and the Devonshire Estate. A morning of contrasts, Vincent quietly contemplated his speech whilst Kayleigh, just around the corner, was in the hustle and bustle of her bridemaids and family. Suited and booted, it's off to Bolton Abbey Tithe Barn for the ceremony in their enormous, high occupancy wedding barn. It's ancient beams and rustic stonework styled with oversized candelabras and beautifully lit with twinkling fairy lights was absolutely gorgeous. They have definitely pulled off that tricky hybrid of luxury and rustic. Whilst the barn would be perfect on it's own, needing no further styling, Kayleigh and Vincent added their own finishing touch to the decorations with potted orchids - a beautiful little touch.
Guests gathered, Vincent waited and was met with the beaming smile of Kayleigh as she walked down the aisle with her dad. I-do's exchanged, it was outside for confetti, drinks and canapes in the sun overlooking the stunning abbey with glorious views of the estate. We followed a few quick and casual group photos - we don't like to spend ages on these, we'd rather everyone was back enjoying themselves rather than standing around! - with a short breather for our newlyweds enjoying a few minutes of quiet time and getting to (finally) properly chat with each other about their mornings whilst we made a few portraits in the sun.
Rotisserie chicken (seriously, check out the barns rotisserie set up!!!) and speeches was followed by a relaxed transition into the evening, enjoying the last dying rays of sunlight before heading onto the dancefloor for the first dance. Shapes were thrown, dance-offs got serious and so, so much fun was had!
