Okay, so technically this isn't just a Grays Court wedding in York, as Kristie and Andy spread their day out across three venues. But let's start at the beginning... After both getting ready in York, Kristie and Andy made their way to Grays Court in York for their outdoor ceremony in the gardens, surrounded by the high city walls and overlooked by York Minster towering above them and their guests as they gathered in the garden. The weather called for sunshine and showers so it was touch and go as to whether or not we were going to have an outdoor ceremony in York at all! But after consulting multiple forecast apps, we decided to just go for it! The sun came out just as Kristie walked down the stairs into the garden with Andy waiting there for her. And it stayed out all throughout the ceremony, into the drinks reception... when the heaven's opened! Needless to say, it was a quick jog back indoors to wait it out.
But as with all British summer weddings, you never can quite rely on the weather and we just waited for a few minutes for it to blow over and get back outside for some portraits of Kristie and Andy in the gardens. Andy made a point of waving at every tourist who waved at him - it's only polite - and seeing as the city wall had plenty of tourists taking photos from upon high, there was a lot of polite waving! We were in giggles!! We had plenty of time for photos and Kristie and Andy wanted to make the most of the beautiful space at Grays Court so made sure to dedicate a bit of extra time to it before they led their guests to the second venue.
Gathering all of their guests with them, Kristie, Andy and a 50-strong crowd meandered their way through the narrow city streets and even down The Shambles to reach their second destination of the day. Waving at more tourists and even receiving an applause as they exited The Shambles we arrived at Ambiente for a tapas wedding breakfast... oh yes, the day was shaping up nicely! Our own honeymoon was a week long tapas and pintxos fueled affair so we were more than happy to be spending the wedding breakfast here! Speeches soon followed before a slow break towards the final venue just across the road at Merchant Adventurers Hall. Welcoming in their evening guests, Kristie made her speech before they cut the cake and threw some shapes. An absolutely fun-packed, exciting day!
