Everyone hopes for good weather on their wedding day but oh my goodness.... how HOT was it on Ben & Isabelle's wedding day!!? Right in the middle of the summer heat wave we celebrated with these two lovebirds at their York Hospitium Wedding. We're regular a York Hospitium Wedding Photographer and love it for it's super-central location, right in the heart of Museum Gardens. It has all the vibes of York that you could ask for with it's olde worlde charm with views of ancient ruins and the river - it's gorgeous!
We met up with Ben in the morning as he walked to church through the city with his boys in tow. Meanwhile, Isabelle was getting ready nearby in a stunning house right on the river. Family around her, it was a hive of activity but also relative calm! As guests arrived at St Olave's church in York, Isabelle, her dad and the bridesmaids made the short journey through the city ready to meet Ben at the end of the aisle. After the I-do's, it was a tunnel of confetti lining the streets leading into the Museum Gardens. A super fun way to lead the guests to the reception venue!
As the guests gathered and mingled we were treated to a fly by from the Red Arrows. No one was expecting it, let alone us when in the split second they were visible between the trees we fired off a single photo forgetting everything about settings - we just wanted to capture it! Ben took all the credit for the appearance of course! We made some time to enjoy the gardens on such a gloriously sunny day with photos in the ruins and amongst the lush planting before heading indoors for speeches. And then out of nowhere... hail the size of grapes!! It was definitely a crazy weather day!
With a thorough cooling off after the hail storm, it was downstairs to party. Ben and Isabelle's first dance was so rudely 'interrupted' by Ben's little sisters who demanded less schmoozing, more dancing! They were absolutely ace and definitely got the party started!
