Well, well, well... what a wedding this is! These two are absolutely crackers which is one thing, but Karen & Mike's Wedding at The Barns East Yorkshire was a testament to doing an all-out, summer wedding and just having FUN!
The Barns East Yorkshire in Faxfleet is a brand new barn wedding venue with oodles of space, rustic charm and textures, textures, textures. It's a proper barn too. Not just a venue claiming to be a barn. No.... this is a barn! From the gorgeous, tall, brick barn for your wedding ceremony with it's lovely little lean to next door that serves as a perfect break-out space with sofas and space to chill out. Across the path there's the big tin shed which flood with light with it's enormous barn doors. If your plan is to have a farm wedding with a bit of luxe styling, look no further!
So, to Karen & Mike's wedding! Lianne began her morning with Mike in Howden whilst James kicked off in nearby Little Weighton. The boys made their way to The Barns and began prepping, adding final touches and struggling with those oh-so-sharp pins for buttonholes. They can be tricky buggers! As guests arrived and filed into the ceremony barn, Karen made her way in a vintage black camper van. We love when a groom cries and Mike was a flood of happy tears when Karen came down the aisle but it was definitely all smiles from that point on. Dad even came in to offer up some spit to help get the rings on!
As our happy couple came down the aisle, the surprise sounds of Back Chat Brass kicked in to lead the guests out into confetti, drinks and nibbles. Keeping the happy vibes going, the band mingled on the lawn as people supped, played a bit of Badminton and enjoyed the great weather. Following some of our characteristically quick and easy family photos - there was no way they were going to be serious at this wedding! - we nipped off for a few photos of our happy little duo around the barns. There is no end to gorgeous textures, backdrops and light around The Barns, we're absolutely in love with the place.
After some emotional speeches rounded off the afternoon followed by pie and mash, the evening crept in and Karen & Mike sneaked away for a little breather and a few quick photos in the wheat fields overlooking the river. It's always a nice time of day to take stock of the whirlwind of the day and truly savour all the craziness that's just happened. It's that perfect moment to say 'eeek, we just got married!!'.
More family sports - rounders if you're asking - led to drinks in the yard under the pretty festoon lights as night set in. We were then treated to confetti canons on the dancefloor for Karen & Mike's first dance which became one of the craziest dancefloors we've ever seen. Thank you both so, so much for inviting us to be a part of all this - it was a day to remember!
