Where do we start with Heather & Kenny's Tanfield House wedding?! First off, it's one of our top wedding venues in North Yorkshire. Situated right on the river in a glorious bit of Yorkshire just north of Ripon, it's a big family home set up for for legal outdoor ceremonies and big parties. It's a gorgeous place to stay and unwind too, and the staff are top notch - we love it and heartily recommend it! So... back to Heather and Kenny! No matter how much it rained in the morning, even as guests arrived dashing in with brollies, Heather and Kenny were decidedly positive about their whole day. Heather wrote her speech whilst her sisters and maid of honour got ready. Dodging the rain, it was outside into the covered pergola to get wed. Some touching vows later and it was drinks and nibbles in the marquee whilst their friends played and sang to entertain the guests. Kenny even joined in for a song too! We're never worried when it's forecast to rain all day because it never rains all day! There's always a gap here and there and with a combination of forecast apps, weather radar geekery and good old fashioned sticking a hand out the window to test if it's still raining, we'll give you a heads up if there's a dry spell at a suitable time! You needn't worry about how we'll get photos done. We'll take care of it it for you. And as we predicted, we found a gap during the drinks reception and nipped out for a few quick photos and we're so glad we did. The weather and the light was just right and we wish we could have had it all day! With speeches concluded later in the afternoon the weather perked up and it was time for the games to begin! Heather and Kenny hadn't decided on a first dance song but had each chosen one but tasked their guests with determining who's song will get played. Each guest was given a predetermined team, bride or groom. And through a series of Jenga games, darts tournaments and beer pong - which all got pretty heated! - points were scored for each team until finally, a winner was declared. Heather's team won with a little ditty by Lionel Richie. What an amazing day and we absolutely loved the wedding games. If you're planning on getting some games out for guests but worried as to whether or not they'll play them, this is definitely a way to get people involved.
