As a North Yorkshire wedding photographer, I get to photograph many unique wedding venues in Yorkshire, but I've never seen anything quite like the venue for Olivia and George's wedding in Pateley Bridge. High above the small market town on top of the hill sits the ruin of St Mary's Church. A stunning, lichen covered, beautiful shell of a building, without a roof and open to the sky, it was such a fantastic location for Olivia and George's ceremony.
I walked with the happy couple up the hill as shop owners and locals alike came out of the doorways to wish the couple well. We ascended to the top of the hill, taking in the views as we went. The drizzle didn't matter one bit! Halfway through the ceremony, the drizzle stopped and the sun came out and stayed out all day. It was perfect!
Heading back down into the valley to their private wedding reception venue with views across the valley, the afternoon was a very relaxed afternoon tea style garden party, with a wonderful hog-roast and plenty of time spent with family and friends.
