WHAT a venue Eden Wedding Barn in Cumbria is! In some of the most gorgeous scenery, this rustic wedding venue was a picturesque setting for Miles & Cindy's Anglo-Chinese wedding. We caught up with them both getting ready in adjoining cottages, with careful choreography to avoid seeing each other! Cindy donned her Chinese red dress and made her way to the barn to secret herself away to begin with Chinese wedding door games. Miles and his (tentatively) merry band of men had to complete a serious of challenges set by the ladies as tradition (vaguely) dictates. These included popping a boon wedged in another mans crotch; playing football using only a vegetable danging from a stocking; consuming a variety of eye-watering 'delicacies', and an obligatory wax strip on the legs! Needless to say, Miles didn't give up and claimed his bride to be before settling down for the Tea Ceremony.
Tea was passed between the whole family before Cindy changed into her Western wedding dress for the ceremony in the barn. Adorned with a thousand origami cranes hanging from the rafters and a under the gorgeous glow of the fairy light wall, Miles & Cindy were officially wed and it was time for the party to really begin! They were greeted outside by a lion dance troupe who performed for the guests, being unruly, chomping on lettuce and entertaining the little ones. Bestowed with as much good luck as the lions could bring, we made time for a few important family photos and gave our newlyweds a breather from all the excitement with a few moments alone for portraits together. It's always a bit that people enjoy as it's usually the first chance our couples actually get chance to say hello to each other!
After speeches and an amazing meal - seriously, it's GREAT food at Eden Wedding Barn! - the evening became chilled out with drinks and fun in full flow. The first dance was quickly interrupted by a surprise entrance from Hyde Park Brass band who carried them off into the night.
