Geof and Ali's wedding had everything that makes for the ideal, relaxed wedding: countryside, teepee, ice cream, boomwhacking (!) and oh-so-many dogs!
Geof and Ali got ready together at their cottage in the beautiful Peak District, right in the heart of the National Park. With views of the hills and the whole family there in the morning, the atmosphere was electric with excitement. Ali's dress was an elegant vintage dress that looked stunning on her.
By mid-afternoon everyone had gathered at a PapaKata teepee in a field for their humanist handfasting ceremony. Originally, this had been planned to be outdoors but the weather was being a bit vague with it's plans so ultimately, the whole ceremony was taken indoors. And what a ceremony! With beautiful readings and randomly picked guests tying their hands together in a traditional handfasting ceremony, the couple had sealed their commitment to one another. But being Geof and Ali, they weren't just going to leave it at that, they wanted to celebrating with a boom...!
In steps Steve Rivers of Unbeatable Energy to lead everyone in celebrating the culmination of the ceremony with boomwhacking. For the uninitiatied (don't worry, we were too!), boomwhackers are tuned lengths of plastic percussion tubing, which when you have 100 guests playing them led by Steve to create a percussion symphony makes for a fantastic sound and is certainly an alternative wedding celebration which we loved!
Gathering for speeches outside the PapaKata, the day was kept informal and fun with ice cream, lawn games and dogs running around - did we mention the dogs!? So many gorgeous dogs. There should be more dogs at weddings! Geof and Ali even brought their lovely dog to oversee the wedding ceremony. Yay dogs!
We enjoyed portraits in the meadow amongst the beautiful yellow flowers and long grass before scrumptious food by The Red Olive. Geof and Ali then took to the dancefloor to show off their new rock n roll dance skills which were beyond impressive! These two really knew what they wanted, a relaxed, fun wedding day in the countryside and boy did they deliver!
