Where better for foodies to get married than a Michelin-starred restaurant in the sleepy village of Harome just outside Helmsley. The Star Inn in Harome and it's hotel The Cross House Lodge literally across the road offer a luxury, intimacy for small weddings that's difficult to find.
After getting ready in the sumptuous rooms at Cross House Lodge, Mel and Alan had their small ceremony in the old world charm of the Wheelhouse. Alan's sons were his best men and stood by him the whole way through. Adding to the luxury of the Wheelhouse setting was the aroma of the huge number of floral arrangements and Jo Malone candles. Mel went all out with her flowers and decorated every available space - there was quite literally nowhere to put a drink down because of all the flowers!
Following a brief drinks reception on the terrace a storm rolled in which we managed to just evade with a quick portrait session in the local country roads. After all, the clouds added drama so we might as well have used them! The intimate speeches concluded the formalities with Alan's eldest son taking up the duties of best man speech with equal parts of admiration for his dad and embarrassing stories.
