Star Inn Harome Wedding - Sherry and Henry
No, your eyes are not deceiving you, that is a giant Easter egg at a summer wedding! Sherry and Henry were one of the hundreds of poor couples whose weddings were impacted by COVID. After three reschedules we finally got there and they got married in August 2021. As their original wedding date had been Easter they decided to do away with tradition and stick with their original plan of an Easter egg smash. I was all for it, what a way to round off a wedding!
Wedding photography at Star Inn, Harome
This was such a chilled out day. Sherry and Henry hadn’t planned a traditional wedding, as you can probably guess from the aforementioned Easter eggs. They wanted to include everything they loved which meant good food, good friends and an all round excellent vibe.
The Star Inn is a gorgeous venue, set in the beautiful little village of Harome, near Helmsley. The Star Inn is well known as one of the best places to eat in the UK, it’s held a Michelin star for the last couple of decades or so. It’s definitely not an over the top, fancy eaterie though. Oh no, the Star Inn is all about modern pub food. It’s relaxed and unstuffy with a real “Yorkshire pub” feel to it.
Sherry and Henry got ready at the venue, they each had their own little cottage to spend the morning in and they’d planned to do a first look ahead of the ceremony. For those not familiar with a ‘first look’ well, it’s exactly as it sounds. The couple see each other ahead of the ceremony so they can get all the emotion out the way, spend a few minutes together away from their guests and soak up the excitement before heading into the ceremony to get married!
Sherry and Henry’s intimate ceremony took place at Cross House Lodge, the hotel owned by the Star Inn. The ceremony room is beautiful with exposed stone walls, low beams adorned with flowers and a warm and cosy atmosphere.
As their guests enjoyed delicious canapes and played lawn games, Sherry, Henry and I went for a wander around Harome to get some photos. Then it was time for a gastronomic feast! Honestly, I know I keep talking about it but the food here is incredible. After everyone had eaten their fill, and enjoyed some speeches, it was time for the highlight of the night. The Easter egg smash! A gigantic egg was placed in front of Sherry and Henry and they whacked it with a wooden mallet, much to the delight of their younger guests. SMASH!
If you’re reading this and considering getting married at the Star Inn, Harome then do it! I can’t recommend this venue enough. Just make sure you book me for your photography…
