Wharfedale Grange is a Pick-Your-Own farm just outside Harewood. We pass it regularly on our travels to and from weddings in North Yorkshire in it's idyllic little spot nestled next to the River Wharfe at the foot of a hill with Harewood House perched on top. We often see plenty of deer on our way through the area, just adding to how nice the spot is. So, when Emily and Jim got in touch to tell us they were getting married at Wharfedale Grange, it certainly got us excited! Their plans were for a festival wedding with camping on site, a huge marquee and an outdoor humanist ceremony. When we arrived we were greeted with a hustle and bustle of last minute preparations. As people arrived it quickly became clear that it was a who's-who of past weddings and old friends alike. We actually did our A-Levels with Emily back at Leeds College of Art many, many moons ago but there was also old uni pals making signs, old colleagues from James' photo lab days and couples from the past couple of years. A real reunion! As the final finishing touches were made, festival wrist bands handed out and kazoos at the ready. Emily met Jim at the archway to tie the knot in a handfasting humanist ceremony conducted by Jim's dad. They exited to all the guests kazoo-ing to 'All You Need Is Love' and a shower of confetti. From that point on, formalities done with, the day was fun, relaxed and all about the festival vibe of sitting in the sun on hay bales drinking as much as possible! Emily and Jim had lined the marquee with trestle tables for a relaxed, informal meal of the most supreme picnic spread you'll ever see! Followed by the last formality, the speeches. We then made use of the acres of farm out-buildings and wildflower meadows for Emily and Jim's portraits. Wharfedale Grange is like a dream come true for that rustic, barn wedding vibe with no end to the nooks and crannies for portraits, we really were spoilt for choice on locations. Bouquet toss, cake judging and plenty more drinks later Emily and Jim hit the dancefloor to end their amazing day. Thanks for having us be a part of it. You all rock!
