Escrick Park Woodland Wedding - Lucy and Gareth

Can you think of anywhere more magical to hold a wedding ceremony than in an ancient oak clearing underneath an arch of woven branches?! Nope, I can’t either!

July 2020 saw a very (understatement of the year!) welcome but very brief return to weddings as COVID restrictions began to ease. I was so looking forward to spending the day at Lucy and Gareth’s intimate wedding, it felt really emotional and their 15 guests were over the moon to be celebrating with this fab couple. The weather was incredible, the day was so chilled out and it was an utter joy to make the most of the outdoors and document their wedding for them.

First look wedding photography

Lucy and Gareth were definitely not ones for tradition, and rather than wait to see each other at the ceremony they spent a leisurely morning getting ready together at home before driving over to Escrick Park to meet me for some pre ceremony wedding portraits. They were accompanied by their dog who was ecstatic to be included in their day! It’s no secret that I love dogs - my pooch is a big part of my life and takes a starring role in my about page photos!

Portraits done we made our way over to the woodlands for Lucy and Gareth’s ceremony. I often get asked by couples if having a ‘first look’ ruins the moment they set eyes on each other at the ceremony. Judging from the huge smiles on Lucy and Gareth’s face the answer is a resounding “no”! Lucy’s proud Dad walked her down the aisle and, with their closest friends and family looking on, the two pledged their love to each other. They were joined by the world’s cutest page boy who did an excellent job delivering the rings to them!

The world’s cutest page boy (that’s his official title now!) was also front and centre as Lucy and Gareth strolled down the aisle and into a sea of confetti thrown by their cheering guests. He made sure that they were covered in handfuls of confetti before everyone made their way to the field where the Escrick Park wedding team had set up a socially distanced ‘bubble’ picnic on pallet benches. It looked so lovely and was the perfect setting for some heartfelt speeches in the sunshine.

As their loved ones relaxed and enjoyed some fizz we stole Lucy and Gareth away from the party for a few more portraits. Their pup didn’t join us this time, he was far too busy enjoying picnic leftovers and undivided attention from everyone! Our good friend Barney Shortman was on wedding film duties, it was great to catch up with him and chat away with Lucy and Gareth as we made the most of the beautiful woodland backdrop.

Lucy, Gareth, I loved being part of your wedding. Escrick Park Woodlands is an absolutely stunning venue and I can see exactly why you chose to get married there. It really was the most perfect spot!
