Andy & Jess | Fig House at Middleton Lodge Wedding.

Surely one of the most elegant wedding venues in Yorkshire, the Fig House at Middleton Lodge blends elevated countryside aesthetics with exclusive luxury styling. Known for being one of the most luxury wedding venues in Yorkshire, I love to bring my unique style of relaxed editorial photography to all my weddings in this beautiful venue.

The Fig House Middleton Lodge

Andy and Jess began their morning getting ready in the cottages on the estate. These stone country houses offer an understated luxury space for wedding preparations that is unrivalled in Yorkshire. The weather wasn’t entirely on our side in the morning, and the preparation of the vintage VW Golf wedding car was mostly spent drying it off and getting it wedding-ready! Andy opted for black tie with a velvet jacket and bow tie. Simple and elegant. Jess’s beautiful dress was sourced from Goldie’s Bridal in Pocklington.

Why Middleton Lodge Sets the Standard for Rural Elegance

The Fig House and Middleton Lodge balance authentic North Yorkshire countryside atmosphere with a curated luxury wedding venue. The Fig House sits within the estate’s walled garden, offering a private space for exclusive wedding venue hire in Yorkshire. Yet, it never feels hemmed in. The walled garden is sprawling and richly abundant – a truly beautiful place for an outdoor wedding ceremony if the weather allows. The Fig House is beautifully bright and airy with the authentic, unpretentious rustic feel of exposed walls and creeping vines, and of course, the figs growing amongst the tables.

The Church of St Michael’s and All Angels

Andy and Jess got married a stone’s throw away at The Church of St Michael’s and All Angels in Middleton Tyas. Just as they exited to showers of confetti, the rain stopped and the sun (sort of) made an appearance! It’s a lovely large church for a religious ceremony close by to Middleton Lodge. Of course, Andy whisked his new bride off for a drive around the countryside in their lovely old Golf as guests made their way to the drinks reception at The Fig House. They made their reappearance to the venue full of their family and friends, cheering their arrival as newlyweds.

Understated Luxury Wedding Venue in North Yorkshire

The elevated qualities of The Fig House at Middleton Lodge don’t stop at the aesthetics; their food focuses on seasonal ingredients, making for luxurious dining suitable for any foodie wedding couple. The produce is grown right on site in the walled garden making for zero food miles and maximum freshness. As guests enjoyed canapés on the lawn, we made for simple elegant family photos using the stunning architecture as our backdrop. I personally like to keep group photos quick and easy so guests and the couple can go back to enjoying themselves. I follow them up with a short portrait session for the couple. With the walled garden looking so abundant, it’s impossible to take a bad photo here. Following dinner and speeches, as guests got comfortable and digested, I sneaked Andy and Jess away for another short photo shoot that took advantage of the quiet time in the day and the low evening sun. It’s a perfect time for a couple to reflect, share feelings, stories from the morning, and reconnect after the rollercoaster of the day.

We rounded the evening off with dancing into the night. I absolutely love how the Fig House transforms from morning to night. It loses none of it’s character, and yet is filled with party atmosphere. It feels exclusive but oh, so welcoming. I commend Middleton Lodge estate for pulling off such a stunning wedding venue and I would love to work with you if you’re planning your own wedding at Middleton Lodge.
