Beth & John | Lodge Farm Weddings Photographer, North Yorkshire.

It’s always exciting to photograph at a new wedding venue. Lodge Farm Weddings in North Yorkshire is just a half an hour drive north of York and is well worth considering if you’re looking for a farm or barn wedding venue near York that offers everything on site. If you’re getting married here, I’d love to come back and be your Lodge Farm Weddings Photographer.

Beth got ready in the well equipped bridal suite as the guests gathered in the courtyard below. She had the perfect bird’s eye view of those who were arriving without anyone suspecting she was was watching. As the final preparations took place, John greeted guests as they were slowly ushered into the dedicated wedding barn. Beth’s dad came for a first look of his beautiful daughter and his reaction was beautiful – such a proud man!

Wedding Barn in North Yorkshire

The wedding barn at Lodge Farm Weddings is a beautifully converted brick barn that retains all of its original charm with its wooden beams and tiny windows. Beth and John only needed to decorate it minimally, opting for candles down the aisle for gentle ambiance, and the addition of a wonderful olive tree as a focal point at the end of the aisle. Their ceremony was punctuated with lovely readings and genuine emotions – absolutely perfect. After they signed their certificate, the happy couple made their way back down the aisle as newlyweds stopping for a fantastic kiss shot mid-way. Nailed it! They exited to a shower of confetti in the courtyard before gathering for a whole group photo.

A Yorkshire Brass Band Wedding Celebration

The party immediately got into full swing as soon as Back Chat Brass entered the courtyard getting everyone hyped and dancing! They’re not your traditional Yorkshire brass band, and instead play versions of all your favourite bangers with their own unique twist. I’ve never been to a wedding where they didn’t get everyone dancing. It was no different at Beth & John’s wedding at Lodge Farm. Drinks flowed and dancing ensued. It’s super important to me that couple’s get to enjoy everything they’ve organised for their wedding day. There was absolutely no way I was going to drag the couple and their wedding party away for photos when they were all enjoying the music and vibes. In fact, the photos of them enjoying the drink reception, to me, are even better than the ‘formal’ photos!

Relaxed Wedding Portraits

When the band finally took a break, we quickly did some family photos of Beth & John’s nearest and dearest shortly before everyone headed into the new barn for the wedding breakfast. Whilst they wouldn’t be missed as people found their seats, I took Beth & John for 5 minutes of quick, relaxed portraits at the top of the driveway. Just good light and 5 minutes of quiet time is all we needed to get all the photos I needed and they got to enjoy all of their drinks reception too. This is 10 out of 10 organisation in my book! After the meal and speeches, we headed out for a slightly longer portrait shoot in the woodland during golden hour. I always recommend doing photos at this time of day if your timings allow – the photos are just gorgeous and it usually happens whilst people go to freshen up, call to check on babysitters, go get more drinks from the bar, and generally won’t miss you for 10-15 minutes. It’s also a nice little break away from the day for the couple to recharge their social battery and enjoy each other’s company for a little while.

Beth & John were blessed with the most perfect golden hour. We enjoyed some effortless shots in the farm grounds before a short stroll down the lane in the golden sunset light. The happy couple then partied hard on the dance floor as I rounded off the story of their day with plenty of dancing photos.

I absolutely loved my first time being a Lodge Farm Weddings photographer. If you’re looking to book your Yorkshire barn wedding here, please do get in touch to check my availability.
